Samokov and the Area

Samokov, often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Bulgarian Alps' is conveniently located just hour by new main road from the capital of Sofia and its international airport. Samokov is a bustling market town at the foot of the beautiful Rila Mountains and also included in the new 350 million Euro Super Borovets project. The stunning Lake Iskar is just a 15 minute or so drive.

The biggest attraction of Samokov is of course Borovets which is just 10kms down the road from the town. In the Super Borovets project, the town will be connected to the new resort of Borovets, but in the meantime, it is one of the closest residential areas to the resort.

With the stunning backdrop of the Rila mountains, Samokov and the surrounding areas are a great all year round holiday destination. Not only that, but the Borovets region is rich in mineral water and of course spas! The Dolna Banya region, Momin Prohod and Belchinski Bani being the most famous in the area.
