Bulgarian Storms Peak Barefoot, Claims Guinness Record

  Novinite News

  People: 1 October 2005, Saturday.

A 43-year-old Bulgarian has climbed barefoot one of highest peaks on the Balkan Peninsula in an attempt to upbeat a Guinness record.

Early in the morning on Saturday Kostadin Marguin left his shoes beneath the Malyovitsa Peak and set for the altitude of 2729 m. He trod from an altitude of 1450 m, through rain and mist, then snow and blizzard, to complete his extreme adventure.

On the top, Marguin told Bulgarian National Radio he was set to repeat this record test at an altitude 4-5 thousand meters, should he find sponsors for abroad.

Konstantin Marguin has already signed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Back in 1993, during the World Expo in Seoul, he ran 100 km barefoot on asphalt.
