On 11th January 2007 at 11:30, the digging ceremony for a new bridge over the Iskar River in Samokov, started. This bridge will replace the existing footbridge and will accommodate cars.

  It will connect from Iskar Boulevard in Samokov to the main road leading to Beli Iskar and Borovets. Construction is scheduled in two stages:

  1st Phase

  Construction of bridge and new road in Samokovo quarter. Completion for end of 2007.

  2nd Phase

  Works within Samokovo quarter to accommodate extra traffic along with improvement of infrastructure in this section. Completion date not confirmed.
