Madjare (sometimes known as 'Madzhare') is a small to medium sized village just before Govedartsi village. It is a genuine unspoilt Rila Mountain village that benefits from being between two prime ski resorts; Borovets and Malyiovitsa. As such, many rich Bulgarians and ski enthusiasts from many countries own property here. Even so, the village does retain a traditional Bulgarian feel with its small cafes and local businesses.

  The location of this village is probably one of the best. Situated in a beautiful mountain valley with the Cherni Iskar river flowing behind the village. Surrounding the village are typical Rila mountain meadows and then thick pine forested mountains behind.

  As such, the village is highly popular for mountain walkers due to the expanses of completely unspoilt mountain countryside. With the National Rila park dominating the area, the flora and fauna is unique and is definitely worth looking at.

  Facilities

  The village does have the basic amenities which include a village shop in the centre (here you can find things like bread, coffee etc) and one or two cafes one or two small cafes. The main road that runs through Madjare leads to Beli Iskar, Samokov and Borovets and in the other direction leads straight to Govedartsi which is close by (5kms) and Malyiovitsa resort (15kms).

  There is public transport available and the daily Samokov/Borovets to Govedartsi passes through the village regularly. The bus stop can be found near the entrance of the village (Borovets side) on the main road. Fares are only a few Levs depending on where you want to go.
