Named after the river it is situated near (the Maritsa River), this village is the smaller sister to Raduil village. The village has around 645 inhabitants and all the basic amenities. It is the last village before Dolna Banya which is around 6kms away by good condition main road.

  With the backdrop of the beautiful Rila Mountains and the Sredna Gora mountains nearby, this really is a charming area of the Borovets region. Spa waters and spa facilities are available in abundant supply making it not only a fun, but healthy place to visit. As with Dolna Banya, the village benefits from having high ionisation which does have recognised health benefits, particularly for the respiratory system.

  In the centre of the village, alongside the main road, there is a particularly pretty orthodox church with a lovely English style garden. Many of the locals give plants, such as rose bushes, to the church garden which has meant it looks particularly nice.
