Raduil is the first village you pass through, coming from Borovets, to get to Dolna Banya. It is highly picturesque, with the main road winding through the village and over the Maritsa river. It is also quite a distinctive village as when you pass through the centre, there will be the usual caf?, municipality building and then….. a small jet plane and tank! Remnants from the Communist regime, these two pieces of ex-army service are well maintained and painted a bright green. You just can't miss them!

If you are travelling in this side of Borovets, a short stop in Raduil is definitely recommended, particularly in summertime where you can sit out on the benches near the caf? enjoying the fresh air and picturesque. There is also a small hotel near the centre too in Alpine style, that is very good value for money. Numerous guest houses ran by locals are readily available as well due to the large amounts of tourists that visit the village throughout the year. A double at one of the best local hotels (Hotel Elenite is highly recommended and it even has a pool) should be around 30 BGN per night per double room- that is only 10 GBP!

Overall, the village is of a good size with 1266 inhabitants and is 950m above sea level. Being just 8km from the world class ski resort of Borovets does mean it is a highly popular holiday home destination and it is cheaper than Beli Iskar village for example (property prices).

Just 2kms from Raduil is the famous Pokrov Bogorodichen Monastery which is built over ancient consecrated ground. The monks there do often offer for you to try their dishes which are made from vegetables grown within the grounds of the Monastery and nearby- well worth a visit!

Raduil is home to a 14th Century church- the Church of St.Nikola which has one display some of the finest wood carvings and icons in the area. Other smaller chapels in the village include: St. Georgi, St. Ivan Rilski, St. Spas and Sts. Peter and Pavel.
